The Yoga Space  ·  Sound baths

Let the sound do the work.

A sound bath is an immersive, meditative experience where you lie still and simply listen — allowing the sounds and vibrations of singing bowls and chimes to move through you. There's nothing you need to do except arrive.

"There's nothing you need to do except arrive.
The sound takes care of the rest."

Sound baths are available as monthly public events and private bookings. Sessions last between 30 and 60 minutes. Using singing bowls and chimes, each session creates a layered experience of sound and vibration that is felt as much as it is heard.

What actually happens

A journey through stillness.

You arrive, find a comfortable position — lying down is most common — and close your eyes. As the sounds begin, your nervous system starts to respond. The experience unfolds in stages, each one a little quieter than the last.

Beta

You arrive here

Your everyday thinking state

The mind is busy — analysing, planning, replaying. This is where most of us live most of the time. It is exactly where you will start when you walk through the door. No judgement — it's normal, and the sound session works with it.

Alpha

The body settles

Relaxed and present

As the sounds begin, the nervous system responds. The breath slows. The body releases tension it didn't know it was holding. The mind becomes quieter — still active, but no longer urgent. Most people arrive here within minutes.

Theta

Deep rest

The dreamlike meditative state

A deeply restorative state where mental chatter quietens and a sense of spaciousness opens up. The experience here is less about thinking and more about feeling and allowing. This is where most people find the session most profound.

Delta

Deepest rest

Some people briefly touch here

The deepest rest state — similar to deep sleep. Some people briefly drop into Delta during a sound bath, experiencing something close to genuine unconsciousness. If you fall asleep, that's completely fine. The experience is still working.

How to join a sound bath.

Sound baths run as monthly public events and are also available as private bookings — for groups, special occasions or a personal session.

Wear comfortable clothing. Bring a blanket if you have one. Nothing else is needed — just yourself and a willingness to rest.

Experience needed

None at all

Good to know.

  • None at all. If you can lie still, you can do a sound bath. It requires nothing of you except to arrive and allow the experience to unfold at its own pace.

  • You might. Some people do, and that's completely fine. The experience is still working whether you are conscious of it or not. Many people find the session most restorative precisely when they drift in and out.

  • Sound baths affect different people differently, and even the same person differently on different days. There is no right way to experience one. Simply being there is enough — and most people notice something, even if it's subtle.

  • Yes — private sound bath sessions are available for individuals and groups. They make a beautiful gift or a meaningful addition to a retreat day or special occasion. Get in touch by email to discuss availability.
